1938-1952

This series consists of Individual Indian Money and Special Deposit ledger cards. The cards record the date, the check number, and the amount for deposits and withdrawals made from each individual Indian's account; the amount of the transaction; the remaining balance of payments in the account; and a statement of the purpose or source of each transaction (e.g., income from a rented allotment, interest, money transferred to Haskell Institute). Information in the records includes the individual's Indian allotment number, and home district, settlement, or, if not living on the reservation, home Agency. In addition to individuals' accounts, the ledger cards record transactions in the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe Accounts, as well as special individual, institutional, grazing unit, bond, and loan accounts. The Special Deposit ledger cards include a section of ledgers of securities holdings and savings bonds.
